We have a rich and varied programme of exciting outings, visiting speakers and in school activities to inspire the children and enhance their learning in class.
Over the course of the year, all our children will undertake a number of trips out of school. These are specifically designed to support and extend learning in the classroom. They provide wonderful opportunities for the children to be hooked by new and engaging experiences, as well as deepening their knowledge and understanding of topics being studies in school.
Residential trips are undertaken to encourage many elements of our ‘hidden’ curriculum, including collaboration, independence, resilience and perseverance. In Year 3, pupils will go to Longridge, Year 4 pupils will visit Woodrow High House, Year 5 will head to Dorset and Year 6 will enjoy their residential in the Isle of Wight.
In school enrichment activities include: Poetry by Heart, Charity fundraising events, Musical performances, assemblies, Art Gallery events, Enterprise Days, Theatre performances, sporting fixtures, Maths Challenge days, Film festival competitions and a number of Inter House competitions.
Local schools are also invited to join Year 2 and Year 4 for specific enrichment days. The children enjoy a carousel of activities centred round problem solving, deduction, reasoning and teamwork.
